-
Hidroeléctrica Boliviana's
submittal of its project for USIJI approval is
an important element of an overall business
strategy for the project.
-
Total installed cost of
capacity of approximately US$ 1,000 per kW
creates a strong competitive profile in the
Bolivian power market.
-
Hidroeléctrica Boliviana,
through its 850 kW refurbishment, is currently
a participant in the Bolivian power market,
which provides accurate current information
and eliminates some potential operating and
regulatory risks.
-
Hidroeléctrica Boliviana
proposes to utilize existing site, substation,
and transmission facilities, reducing project
costs per MW and minimizing construction
impact.
-
Hidroeléctrica Boliviana has
received all required Bolivian clearances and
generation licenses to operate the proposed
facility.
-
The Project's net electrical
output will be dispatched and sold according
to an economic marginal cost of production
model defined by the Bolivian Electricity Law.
The market oriented dispatch and sales model
reduces risks frequently associated with
long-term agreements supported by government
or state owned utilities.
-
The limited storage capability
of the project allows a capacity payment which
provides a significant portion of the required
operating cash flow (operations, maintenance
and estimated debt service) reducing the risk
of revenue variability as a result of
hydrology.
-
The anticipated life of the
Project (35 years) far exceeds the anticipated
amortization of the Project debt.
-
Hidroeléctrica Boliviana has
a strong sponsor/shareholder team with an
experienced lead developer, Tenaska, and well
known, successful, respected local sponsors.
-
Run-of-river hydroelectric
power is one of the cleanest, most efficient
forms of generation available.
-
The Project requires no
flooding, contemplates no resident
re-location, and is located in an area
historically approved for mining and
hydroelectric power generation.
