Calculation:
The total amount of CO2 emissions reductions
that the Project will produce is
approximately 3 million metric tons of CO2
equivalent.
Main Assessment
This phase includes a qualitative and
quantitative analysis of the project,
conducted both in the office and during
field visits, entailing:
Qualitative
analysis:
-
Suitability assessment - detailed
analysis of project design in order to
ascertain whether it meets certain
carbon offset eligibility criteria (see
below)
-
Assessment of the scientific methodology
of the project, focusing on data
availability and data quality;
-
Assessment of the project's management
capability and infrastructure, to
determine it's ability to accomplish the
targets proposed;
A positive outcome of these two
assessments results in a Certificate of
Project Design
Quantitative
analysis:
-
Verification of projections of carbon
flows derived from the project by
quantifying carbon flows of with -
without - (baseline) project scenarios.
-
These assessments result in a Schedule
of Emission Reduction Units that
indicates the emission reduction units
that will be achieved by the project
during the lifetime (provided it is
implemented as described in the
associated project design). Furthermore,
it determined which proportion of the
offsets must be retained in the buffer
to cover for the risk and uncertainty.
Monitoring and
Verification:
Carlos Casado, S.A. will select an
organization offering project monitoring and
long-term verification of GHG emissions
reductions. Carlos Casado, S.A. will choose
the best-suited organization for this work.
Information will be collected by the
monitoring system and will be used to
evaluate actual emissions reductions
(impacts vs. projections). The monitoring
system will be set up to collect data and to
track verify that the projections are
established by the actual measured and
recorded emissions.
